STALLINGS – Greater Matthews region restaurants Bisonte Pizza, Moochies Tavern, Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q and Mario’s Italian Restaurant have reached the Savory 16 in Union County Weekly’s Munch Madness.
Bisonte Pizza and Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q made the Savory 16 last year while Mario’s Italian Restaurant returns for the first time since 2021 and Moochies Tavern was last here in 2020. Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q has reached this round every year since 2020.

Bisonte Pizza vs. Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q
Voters will choose between No. 1 Bisonte Pizza and No. 5 Stallings Rockstore in the third round.
Bisonte Pizza serves Buffalo and New York-style pizzas with fresh ingredients as well as chicken fingers and wings. It defeated No. 16 Curry Place in the first round and No. 8 Fresh Chef Restaurant in the second round. Bisonte Pizza is located at 1381 Chestnut Lane, Matthews.
Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q serves barbecue sandwiches, plates and combos with banana pudding, potato salad and other sides in what used to be a gas station. It defeated No. 12 Cornerstone Pub & Grill in the first round and No. 4 Carnitas Mexican Guanajuato In the second round. Stallings Rockstore Bar-B-Q is located at 3116 Old Monroe Road, Stallings.
Moochies Tavern vs. Mario’s Italian Restaurant
Voters will choose between No. 3 Moochies Tavern and No. 7 Mario’s Italian Restaurant in the third round.
Moochies Tavern has plenty of food to munch on, including wings, tacos, burgers and elevated entrees, while you listen to live music or vibe with friends. It defeated No. 14 Hacienda El Ray in the first round and No. 6 Hickory Tavern in the second round. Moochies Tavern is located at 15060 Idlewild Road, Matthews.
Mario’s Italian Restaurant is where you can get pizza and pasta dishes as well as house specials like the filet mignon, ribeye and New York strip in a cozy environment or outside patio. It defeated No. 10 Phat Daddy’s Cafe in the first round and No. 15 MAm’s Italian Restaurant & Bar in the second round. Mario’s Italian Restaurant is located at 2945 Matthews-Weddington Road, Matthews.
