2024 Union County Weekly Munch Madness

Union County is home to more than 300 restaurants. We have taken 64 of the most popular eateries in Monroe, Indian Trail, Waxhaw and the Greater Matthews area and put them into a tournament bracket.

Each week Union County Weekly readers will vote on a new round at thecharlotteweekly.com until one restaurant earns the title of 2024 Munch Madness champion.

Maxwell’s Tavern in Waxhaw won in 2023, becoming the first restaurant outside of the Indian Trail region to win the competition. A laptop crash canceled the 2022 challenge. Mia Famiglia Restaurant and Pizzeria won in 2021. The Bridge won the first two competitions in 2019 and 2020.

Some familiar concepts have disappeared from the 2024 brackets due to permanent closure: Migg’s Place in Indian Trail; 701 Main Restaurant in Waxhaw; Saveea’s American Bistro in Wesley Chapel; and Lucy’s Bake and Deli in Stallings.

This year’s bracket features some new competitors since 2023, including Quincy’s and Taqueria y Marisqueria los Pepe's in Monroe; Flav's Coffee & Italian Market in Indian Trail; Bistro D’Antonio and Adela’s Mexican Kitchen in Waxhaw; and Cornerstone Pub & Grill an Curry Place in the Greater Matthews area.

Each region has its own voting page: Monroe, Indian Trail, Waxhaw and Greater Matthews, which consists of the restaurants in the 28104 zip code.
