8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Yard Sale to Benefit Local Food Pantry. HealthSource Chiropractic will host its first annual Yard Sale Extravaganza, which will raise money to support the Monroe food pantry. The event will take place in the HealthSource parking lot. Those who want to sell items can reserve a spot for $10, gather the belongings they wish to sell and set up that morning between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. Snacks and drinks will be provided along with a free massage. Noon to 2 p.m., Back to School Bash. Radio Disney is throwing a Back to School Bash at the Monroe Crossing mall. Before it’s time to pick up the books again, kids can join together in the center court for games, contests, prizes and more. To make each child’s return to school great, Monroe Crossing will be accepting donations for gently used shirts, shoes, socks, pants, skirts and uniforms for boys and girls ages 5 to 12 during the event. Those who purchase an item for donation from one of the Monroe Crossing stores will receive a $15 Belk gift card. A receipt of purchase must be shown to receive the gift card. According to the CBCC, there is a shortage of blood in the community, especially the O blood group (O positive and O negative types), so CBCC is urging O donors to donate blood as soon as possible. Sun Valley 14’s Summer Movie Magic. The new Sun Valley 14 theater is wrapping up its Poppy’s Summer Movie Magic children’s film series with “Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax.” The theater will show the family-friendly feature at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 14, 15 and 16. Tickets are $1 for kids and a parent can tag along for free. In addition, kid-sized popcorn and drinks also will be sold for $1 each.
