Students return to year-round schools

Kids attending the Union County Public School year-round schools found themselves back in the classroom recently.

Officials with the system say there were no problems reported when students returned to Benton Heights, East, Shiloh and Walter Bickett elementaries, Monroe Middle School and the Walter Bickett Education Center and Wolfe School.

“It’s been a very smooth start,” said school principal Blaire Traywick in a news release. “I am thrilled to be at (Benton Heights) and look forward to a very successful year.”

Meanwhile, Union County Early College classes started back Wednesday, Aug. 1. The rest of the county’s traditional-calendar schools start back Aug. 27. Check back later this month for Union County Weekly’s Back To School special issue.
