Blood drive to honor N.C. woman

A blood drive Friday, Aug. 10, from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in Monroe will honor Asheville-native Heather Reid.

Nine American Red Cross blood drives are being held in Reid’s memory this week. The drive comes at a time when the collection group faces a critical blood shortage, according to a news release.

The Monroe drive is at the Chili’s, 2861 W. U.S. 74.
