Union County needs quilt squares for a project aimed at raising funds for the About Breast Cancer program.
The program provides free screening and diagnostic mammogram services to uninsured and under-insured women in the county. Each year the county health department holds a quilt raffle to raise money for the program, and quilt squares are now needed to prepare for the upcoming raffle.
All blocks should measure 12 inches, and accurate quarter-inch seams are important. Any shade of pink must be used in each block, though no specific pattern is needed. Blocks need to have a muslin or off-white fabric background.
Enough squares are needed to complete a queen-sized quilt. Submissions are accepted through Sept. 12 at 1224 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. Address submissions to Emily Walmsley.
