As dictated by state statutes, area municipalities are busy preparing their budgets for fiscal 2012-13 and setting property tax rates for residents.
These budgets must be approved by July 1 and many of the towns and cities in Union County will have public hearings on their proposed budgets in the coming weeks.
Weddington, Waxhaw, Wesley Chapel and Stallings all have budget hearings coming up in June on their proposed budgets, while Indian Trail and Monroe have already had public hearings and are poised to adopt budgets at upcoming meetings.
Inside you’ll find a breakdown of all of these budgets. What the money is being spent on, where the money is coming from and how it all affects residents.
See pages 11 through 16 for more information and a detailed breakdown for everything residents need to know about each town’s budget before heading to their public hearings and budget votes in June.
