The Union County Community Arts Council hosts its annual Union County Student Artist Showcase at South Piedmont Community College Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
More than 700 students from Union County Public Schools, Union Academy and home schools have submitted work for the art show in the categories of ceramics/pottery, crafts, computer art, digital imagery, black and white drawing, color drawing, mixed media, painting and printmaking.
First, second and third place, as well as merit ribbons, are presented in each category to winning middle and high school art work. Overall Best of Show is awarded to one middle and high school student. Participating elementary students are presented with a certificate.
