Six people were arrested and charged Wednesday, Jan. 18 with selling alcohol to minors in western Union County. The charges come as the result of an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, using undercover deputies and a volunteer under 21 years old.
Deputies arrested Mary Edenfield and Osama Yousef Lafi, employees at the Citgo Stallings Express, 4520 Potters Road, as well as Amanda Cash, an employee at Bon Fire Bar & Grill, 6751 Old Monroe Road. Also charged was Anthony Cipriano, an employee at the Express Mart, 13800 E. Hwy 74, Christopher Macmonagle from Exxon On The Run, 304 Unionville Indian Trail Road and Rohankumar Kapadia from the Kangaroo Express, 13719 W. Hwy 74.
“Several restaurants and convenience stores in Indian Trail, Wesley Chapel, Weddington, Waxhaw, and Stallings were visited by undercover deputies,” Sheriff Eddie Cathey said in a release. “With the assistance of a person under the age of 21, deputies monitored alcohol sales and criminally charged six establishment employees.”
Cathey noted that during the investigation, the volunteer attempted to buy alcohol from twenty-one locations, but was turned away by employees at all of the other restaurants and gas stations.
