Indian Trail Town Council Candidate – Ash Minor

Race to November

Who is Ash Minor?

We are deep into election season and by now you may have seen my name on signs around town, received one of my fliers or read various articles that mentioned me and what I believe in. I may have even knocked on your door or spoken to you at a public event. As we move towards Election Day, I want to give you a better understanding of who I am as a person- specifically my background and qualifications- and why I feel I am right for this role.

My family is from Reidsville, NC, but I grew up in Silver Spring, MD, where I was a wrestler, a Boy Scout and active in my church. I grew up in a household that fostered relationships, healthy living, financial responsibility and service to others. I moved to the Charlotte area in 1997 and attended UNC-Charlotte, where I graduated with a marketing degree. My wife and I have been together 13 years and built out house here in 2005. We have two children- a son and a daughter.

Experience

I am a financial advisor with a Fortune 100 wealth management firm. I feel this makes me uniquely qualified to continue business growth and bring more jobs to our town. I am also a Notary Public. I volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Pantry and am a proud member of Union West Rotary. A top priority of mine is parks and recreation since I also serve on the Indian Trail Bicycle Masters Plan Steering Committee. Along with other like-minded individuals, we lobbied last summer for approval of a system of bike lanes in our town beginning with pilot projects on the north and south sides of Highway 74. I am qualified, I believe, to serve in this role due to my professional experience, in which I’ve worked with thousands of households and countless business owners providing counsel and finding solutions to financial problems. In business school, I worked with various teams on projects for large corporations to gather public input and consider different points of view in a problem solving capacity. I bring this knowledge and experience to the Town Council. I will collaborate effectively with others and work diligently to enhance the lives of our citizens.

Why run

I have a great deal of respect for the 100 year history of this town and its people. I will work to preserve the small town southern heritage of Indian Trail while maintaining a focus on responsible progress and enrichment of our town.

I recognize and respect the importance of the role I’m hoping to serve in. I’m under no illusion this will be easy. On the contrary, I’m sure I will not be able to please everyone. But what I can promise is that, if elected, I will invest the time and energy with my fellow members of Town Council and our mayor to speak and act for the benefit of all the people of Indian Trail- individuals and business owners. I will bring a fresh, energetic voice and point of view to that panel. I will apply my strengths to be a productive, constructive member of our town’s governing body. Please vote for me, Ash Minor, Nov. 8 and tell others.
