MARVIN – Students in Damien Hazel’s third-grade class at Marvin Elementary School recently took something they learned and turned it into a society.
The kids, after reading “How to Build Your Own Country” by Valerie Wyatt, broke up into teams and started forming their own countries – as well as a country motto, emblem, flag and more. Then students watched as their country took shape, a population grew and a government formed.
Once a national anthem was picked, holidays designated and country fashion sense decided on, the students unveiled their new societies to their parents in a special celebration.
