Students support teachers with song

MONROE – Students at Sardis Elementary School took a unique approach recently to showing their care and concern for local teachers.

A group of students sang in “We Thank Our Teachers,” a music video made by teacher Jodi McConkey to bring awareness to her “request for more support of public education.”

In the video, students sing while pictures of staff and students flash by showing a list of all the things teachers are responsible for.

“Our teachers are like parents to many of our students, many of whom have little or no support at home,” McConkey wrote in an email to Union County Weekly. “They truly do love their teachers and I fear where they might be without the support they receive at Sardis.”
